Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Tom Ford apparently learned his lesson from his wacky show last season, his first since 2004. Regarding the fall runway, Ford admitted to WWD that reviews were far more scathing than he thought they would be, and though he defended the looks as something Rihanna might wear, that still seemed a bit off base. When have you ever seen Rihanna in head-to-toe hot pink patchwork? This time around, however, the mosaic patterns and animal print pieces looked perfect for the young, rich and rhythmically-talented.

But just because Ford calmed down doesn't mean he went understated and boring. The short, sparkly dresses are akin to a lot of things we've seen Beyoncé wear on tour recently (and imagine she wears while burping Blue Ivy or what have you), and there were also matching sparkly top and bottoms. If anything, he seems to finally understand his growing fan base.
