Here's the first look at the new Steven Alan in Portland, OR, which Steven Alan, the man, calls "modest yet rustic." This is also the first of the brand's four store expansion to Atlanta, Chicago and Dallas.
Designed by HWKN, each shop will include bespoke wall units made from locally-sourced wood (obvi) and a series of racks, cubbies and display cases that can be customized for each new shipment of goods. Marc Kushner, partner HWKN, explained that, "the design challenge was to create something completely modular for a national roll out, but capable of reflecting the local character of each store's location. [...] In the Portland store, all of the millwork is made of Redwood. In Chicago and Atlanta we chose Douglas Fir, and the Dallas store uses Southern Pine." It sounds like it each one will smell delightful.
