In the ultimate New York City lovefest, Jay Z is collaborating with upwards of six designers under Barneys roof for the holidays (WWD hinted at this earlier this summer, but we weren't prepared for the cray-ness of it all). Among them are Lanvin, Balenciaga, Balmain, Proenza Schouler, Rick Owens, and Moncler and each have worked with the hip hop artist and first gentleman to Beyoncé on a signature piece. Barneys is calling it a "A New York Holiday" and the in-store shop has been dubbed BNY SCC Gallery because Jay is into art now. It's short for Barneys New York and Shawn Corey Carter.
With such star power coming at you from all sides, you'd expect the collection's cost to be astronomical, but that's only the case for most of the items. A cotton tee will retail for $70 all the way up to $33,900 a Shawn Carter by Hublot watch. In between, you'll find menswear raincoat by Stutterheim (pictured below) for $675. Each come in white, black, silver and/or gold to represent the NYC skyline, of course. And bonus, 25 percent of all sales from the project will go toward the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation.
The collection will debut on Barneys.com November 20 through January 3 as well as at the Barneys flagships in New York, Beverly Hills, San Francisco, Boston and Chicago. Heads up for pre-order possibilities via the site prior to the launch, and check out three of the collection's pieces below.
