Nike's Portland-based designers should know first-hand what it's like to run in winter weather while wearing their lightweight sneakers: cold. The sportswear company plans to take care of this issue next month with the debut of the Nike SneakerBoot.

Nike released images of the SneakerBoot two days ago. The Free Run 2 SneakerBoot will have a "full inner-sleeve" covered by a mesh upper to keep feet and ankles warm as well as deeper treads to keep runners from slipping; the Dunk, pictured, has a gum rubber sole. "Never let harsh weather stop your hustle," Nike insists. SneakerBoots will be available for men and women online and in Nike stores in early October.
