Dazzling Blue via Pantone
Surprise! The color of spring 2014 is Dazzling Blue, according to the Pantone Color Institute. You'll notice that much like Monaco Blue of last spring, it's blue.
Though it's a slightly lighter, brighter version, no need to chuck all your blues of last season. Leatrice Eiseman, Pantone's executive director noted that the point of the shade is that it's practical. People already have a form of navy in their closets. Plus, it's inspired by the Citibike program and Facebook "Social Butterfly" blue. So.
As for the rest of top ten colors this coming spring, the folks at Pantone look to designers' choice colors as a form of divination. Eiseman explains, "What's interesting is we're seeing exciting and fashionable colors as well as more neutral ones. [...] There needs to be equilibrium, and that is a more serious word than balance. The world still needs the stability of soft neutrals but we're not just talking about gray, beige and taupe." In short, no need to read your horoscope today. Just check your closet. Below find nine more colors of spring 2014 including Paloma (a type of grey), Placid Blue, Celosia Orange, Freesia, Cayenne, and Sand.
