A few weeks ago, lifestyle guru and doer-of-many-things-perfectly Gwyneth Paltrow and designer Stella McCartney teased a collaborative project for Gwyn's Goop Collection. Well, we can all let out our collective breath today, as the best friends have just released all the details about their chi-chi collab.
The two will offer classic black blazer, a slouchy gray knit jumpsuit, black jeans, black wool trousers, and McCartney's new Beckett handbag in black, gray and white, among other pieces, according to WWD. Former Goop Collection pieces include one-off capsules with $150 sweatpants, a $90 white tee, and some MiH pants. So this multi-piece collection is a departure in a big way for Goop. Also, prices start at $795.
As is common in the collaboration interview, the article features a section where both parties launch obligatory praise at each other. But since Stella and Gwyn are already thisclose, as we all all know, it gets a little out of hand.
So Gwyneth goes: "When one of your best friends is a very successful artist and you love and admire her work, you want to support it at all [costs]. I have this start-up, Goop, and I have a strong idea of what I want it to be. I went to Stella and asked if she would collaborate with me. She never had done a collaboration like this before until I strong-armed her. She's the most insanely amazing designer."
And then Stella was all: "I'm cringing. Gwyneth has such a strong sense of style. One automatically recognizes what she likes to wear—very timeless and effortless pieces."
And then Stella continues: "I have quite a lot of admiration for her at so many levels and that's a big part of how I design. Her spirit and inner beauty as well as outer beauty are a big inspiration for me. I draw from that every day from all my friends."
And then Gwyneth praises those other friends: "She has all these amazing women. We all represent different aspects of a woman. You have something from each of us."
And then she praises herself a little: "I think of myself as a woman who is a lover of beautiful things. I'm very specific about my taste. The role I want in a partnership is curating a collection as opposed to taking a designer point of view. I can tweak a blazer and make it the perfect blazer. It's being able to fulfill what my ideal things ought to be."
And then they both go back to praising the collection. Look for it on Goop next week.
