Cameron Diaz: My Book Is About the 'Well-Being of Your Body'

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Welcome to Racked's Fitness Week: five days of workout coverage to kick your New Year's resolutions off right.

Cameron Diaz is on a publicity tour for her new healthy living tome, The Body Book and this morning, she spoke passionately about it with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America. Diaz opens by asserting that she is not a nutrition expert, stressing that she reached out to many in the field to compile the book. It's not a diet guide or a new GOOP (exhale, Gwyneth), rather, she says, it's about understanding what food and exercise do to your body.

"Why don't we have this information?" she says. "This is information about our body...We're with it from beginning to end, all day long, from birth to the end of our journey we are in our body. We don't know anything about it. We don't learn about it in school at all...We get so much information about diets and what you should and shouldn't do to look a certain way, but nobody ever talks about what your body does with those things...and how it actually makes you feel."

Diaz and Roberts go on to discuss sugars, how to age gracefully and more. Dig into the book here; it's available to purchase now on Amazon.
