Like last year, many stores are expected to bump their Black Friday sales up a day early, which means employees will have to work on Thanksgiving. Macy's has already announced their 6pm Thanksgiving opening, and CBS News suggests other retailers will follow suit. Costco, however, won't be one of them. When asked why stores would stay closed on Thanksgiving, a spokesperson told ThinkProgress: "Our employees work especially hard during the holiday season and we simply believe that they deserve the opportunity to spend Thanksgiving with their families. Nothing more complicated than that."

ThinkProgress reports that Dillard's, Burlington, REI, and American Girl are also staying closed on Thanksgiving this year.
