Famous actor and comedian Mike Myers's brother Peter Myers has been an employee of Sears Canada for 32 years. Times must be really dire, because Peter finally worked that connection and convinced Mike to be in a Canadian Sears ad.
The commercial is a conversation between the two of them and it is very self-aware, as Adweek puts it. How often does someone in an ad ask outright if the company is going under? Mike Myers almost pulls it off, and he sings the old Sears jingle and invents a catchy new slogan: "Sears Canada. My brother works there."
