Though they guessed it might #breaktheinternet, Paper wasn't totally prepared for the attention that Kim Kardashian, all shiny and naked, would receive. Before this week, the magazine's website averaged just over 500,000 unique monthly page views and had a paid circulation of 125,000. According to WWD, the Paper saw over five million unique visitors in the first 20 hours after Kim Kardashian's cover images were released, although Paper CCO Drew Elliott can't give an exact amount because Google Analytics buckled under the traffic.
Elliott noted that subscribers who already have their copies were putting them up for sale on eBay for $50 a pop (the magazine normally sells for $5 per copy). Paper is taking orders for the issue on their website—$10 for the dressed cover, $20 for the butt cover—but they won't be shipping until December 1st.
