Well this is horrible: six years after a Walmart employee was trampled to death beneath a stampede of Black Friday shoppers, the company has yet to pay the tiny $7,000 penalty that it was charged after the incident.
According to the Huffington Post, the case is still pending federal review and has been in the same state for at least a year. Even worse, Walmart has dumped millions into fighting the Department of Labor v. Walmart Stores case instead of accepting the fine (and the ramifications of the fine). If the fine is paid, it means that Walmart accepts that it should have foreseen the dangers associated with Black Friday and properly protected its employees.
