Today, NYC-based fitness studio membership service ClassPass announced that it's heading to Seattle. In October, ClassPass launched in West Hollywood and Washington, D.C. and earlier this fall, ClassPass rolled into Chicago. According to Fortune, ClassPass's model of a $99 monthly fee in exchange for classes at dozens of gyms is gaining fans in cities all over—the company plans to launch in even more metropolitan areas next year.
Co-founder Payal Kadakia tells Fortune that ClassPass is "the Pandora of workouts," and that ClassPass facilitated 50,000 class reservations last year and more than 1 million this year. The company announced $12 million in new funding in September in addition to the $2 million raised in March, and Kadakia hopes to one day expand into the lifestyle space, offering cooking classes and other hobbies.
