Marketwatch reports that eBay is considering cutting around 10% of its total staff, or at least 3,000 jobs early on in the new year. According to anonymous sources, most of the cuts would take place in eBay's marketplace devision, including eBay.com and StubHub, where competition from rivals Amazon and Alibaba have been threatening sales. Marketwatch pointed out that the cuts would alleviate operating costs and make eBay a better potential buyout candidate, which may be in the plans for 2015.
