Are you ready to join Marc Jacobs' space cult? The looks he sent out for fall felt at once retro and futuristic, and the entire effect was soothing in a creepy, just-take-this-pill-and-don't-ask-what's-in-it sanatorium kind of way. Jacobs offered plenty of minimal tunic dresses over leggings in soothing shades of lilac, cream, tan, brown and ice blue paired with blunt, shiny straight bobs and thick fabric headbands. Aside from the formal wear, most felt a bit like uniforms.
Models walked to an droning spoken version of Milton Ager's 1929 song "Happy Days are Here Again" voiced by Jessica Lange. "Happy days are here again/The skies above are clear again/So let's sing a song of cheer again/Happy days are here again," was repeated over and over, but clearly, the skies were not clear—they were full of clumpy, leaden clouds. All's fine, Lange intoned, as models continued to emerge like emotionless bots.
There weren't a lot of notable faces in the model lineup—no Cara or Karlie or Charlotte this time—but a Kardashian/Jenner did walk, flying somewhat under the radar in her wig and bleached-out eyebrows.
