The rumors are true: Rihanna is pictured on the cover of US Vogue's March issue. According to scans leaked online, the singer was shot wearing a sheer black mesh beaded top (Louis Vuitton?) paired with light-wash jeans. "The Rihanna Effect," reads the coverline. "How the unstoppable pop diva became a full-on fashion force." Inside, Rihanna wears pieces from Givenchy, Saint Laurent, Alexander Wang, Rodarte, Versace and Miu Miu paired with a pixie crop and plenty of (not-photoshopped-out) ink.
In the accompanying article, writer Plum Sykes describes Rihanna upon first meeting her and sounds completely entranced. "Rihanna is slim, with the figure of a dancer, almost flat-chested," she says. "Her face is cherubic. She has an adorable button nose; full, bow-shaped lips painted vamp-red. Her perfect skin glows with health. Her light caramel eyes are lined with an immaculately drawn catlike flick of kohl...I'd say Rihanna is about five-eight, but she is wearing four-inch pointy-heeled Saint Laurent black suede booties with leather ties wrapped around her ankles...Rihanna looks brilliant, and so original."
Rihanna proceeds to style Sykes, to much success, and we find out a few more facts about the celebrity in the process: she doesn't really wear underwear, she wants to start a fashion label soon, and she just moved back to NYC from LA ("I've downsized"). We wonder how she dressed for the raging snow storm yesterday.
