Alexander Wang's decision to move his New York Fashion Week show from Pier 94 to the Duggal Greenhouse in the Brooklyn Navy Yards reads like a stroke of marketing genius; it's all anyone wants to gossip about. The designer has already poked fun at the move, partnering up with Uber to offer a discount on car service and sending maps to editors who otherwise will be traveling up and down the west side of Manhattan for shows this season. As the Daily News reports, Wang has also arranged for a 149-person ferry to transport guests from one borough to another.
But why, exactly, did Wang decide to relocate his show in the first place? According to the New York Times, it may have been because his go-to venue was booked. It will host the Westminster Kennel Club's Masters Agility Championship where more than 200 dogs compete in timed obstacle courses as part of the "fastest-growing dog sport in the country." FYI, tickets are still available here. For the dog show, of course—that Wang door is going to be tight.
