Rachel Roy just finished celebrating a full decade of running her eponymous designer label during New York Fashion week when her parent company, Jones Group, announced that it's shutting the label down. A source from Jones, which is being sold to Sycamore Partners, told WWD that "the designer collection didn't fit in with Jones' overall strategic direction." They're keeping the lower-priced contemporary line Rachel Rachel Roy and will continue to sell it exclusively through Macy's.
At the moment Rachel Roy, the designer, isn't ready to shut down her baby brand and is shopping around for a way to finance it herself.
