Beginning in April, Vanessa Friedman will take up a new role as The New York Times fashion director and chief fashion critic. Currently, she's the fashion editor of the Financial Times (FT).
The Times recently lost two of its most renowned fashion critics. Vogue poached Suzy Menkes and Cathy Horyn left to spend time with her now-deceased partner, Art Ortenberg. (Eric Wilson jumped ship back in September.) While Horyn will probably have to modify her handle, she expressed her support this morning on Twitter:
Congrats to @VVFriedman on joining the @nytimes! You will have fun!
