President Obama, the world's most #normcore president, spoke with Ryan Seacrest about his recent Gap shopping experience. Obama explained he dropped in out of support for the company's promise to raise the minimum wage to $10, but that doesn't mean his choices weren't scrutinized by daughter's Malia and Sasha. "They thought for a dad, I displayed reasonably good taste," he said. "The bar is fairly low. But I didn't get too adventurous. It was your basic sweaters and solid colors, didn't get too wild."
One tip for dads shopping for daughters: Don't buy pants. "The key thing, the first thing I did, was walk in and said, 'We're just getting a sweater or a blouse or a T-shirt' because when you start getting into pants or shoes, then suddenly you're doomed." It would probably help if his own history with pants hadn't been so questionable. To wit:
'I've been unfairly maligned about my jeans,' Obama jokes. 'The truth is, generally I look very sharp in jeans. There was one episode like four years ago in which I was wearing some loose jeans mainly because I was out on the pitcher's mound and I didn't want to feel confined while I was pitching and I think I've paid my penance for that. I got whacked pretty good. Since that time, my jeans fit very well.'Moral of the story: Fit matters, folks. Also, if you raise minimum raise, the president will come hang out.
