Starbucks, coffee giant, think that its future lies in tea and has enlisted a major celebrity to help it with its tea push: Oprah Winfrey. The talk show legend has created a a new tea blend, Oprah Chai, which will hit Starbucks and Teavana menus on April 29.
Developed with the help of Teavana's "teaologist" Naoko Tsunoda, Oprah Chai features cinnamon, ginger, cardamom and cloves. "I love tea, and I love spicy tea, and that's what chai tea is," said Oprah, who was "nervous" about her meeting in Seattle with Starbucks. Said Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz, "We are going to elevate the tea experience in the same way we did for coffee," and that Oprah Chai, "is a strong next step forward in accomplishing this objective."
