In what is clearly an early, elaborate April Fools' joke, American Eagle Outfitters has "announced" a line of clothing for dogs that will match pets to their owners. It is called, adorably, American Beagle Outfitters. Industry bible WWD was either completely fooled or is in on the joke, reporting that the Beagle line, "features slimming doggy jeggings, fur-friendly bikinis and accessories to express the style of every pooch, big or small."
"None of this has been done before," says one AE stylist/dog designer in the below video. "I'm a pioneer. And in some ways, I'm kind of a prisoner of my own ambition." Said another, "I think American Beagle is going to be huge. I see Milan, I see Paris."
What doesn't appear to be a joke is the charity element: American Eagle is donating $1 from every order that uses discount code "303053Q1" (save 20% off three or more items online) to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
