One Gizmodo writer has bravely documented his experience on the world's first ice cream cleanse and like most cleanse diaries, it's a gross-yet-fascinating read. The $240 cleanse is being peddled by a shop named Kippy's in LA (of course) and thought it may not sound healthy, it's obstinately good for you: Each pint is made of raw coconut, honey and other natural flavors. But no matter how natural and superfood-spiked the ice cream is, it's still ice cream, not green vegetables. The author and his girlfriend were the 11th and 12th people to sign on for the program, which has participants eating five pints of ice cream a day for four days straight.
"It's not fun to eat ice cream in the morning (or cold things all day long), and it's not subtle," he writes. "People will be constantly asking you, 'Are you eating ice cream?' at which point you'll have to explain the whole cleanse thing, which will make you feel like a jackass."
Both the author and his girlfriend lost weight on the cleanse, then immediately put it back on. That, combined with the public shame, makes it sound pretty much like any other popular cleanse on the market.
