George Clooney went and did the thing he vowed he'd never do again, proposing to his girlfriend, Oxford University-educated human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin, last week. Today, People magazine has an exclusive on the proposal details (bended knee! how old fashioned) as well as that crucial close-up shot of the major rock now resting on Alamuddin's left hand.
Per the magazine, the platinum ring boasts a seven-plus carat, ethically mined, emerald-cut diamond flanked by two tapered baguettes. Maybe Clooney was inspired by his buddy Brad Pitt: The ring is similar in size to Angelina Jolie's emerald-cut ring, whose center stone is an estimated seven carats, but it's obviously a bit less ostentatious. See a big picture of it right here.
