Fashion types and Vogue readers are up in arms over an article, published in the magazine's latest issue, which definitely makes you feel ick about eating chicken. The piece, which does not appear to be live on Vogue's website but is viewable here, begins with a tale of a healthy 25-year-old LA gal who mysteriously developed back-to-back UTIs. She tried eliminating different things from her diet but it was only when she quit chicken cold turkey that the infections ceased.
"A cluster of recent studies have found that UTIs are becoming resistant to antibiotics," Vogue notes, "and the problem has been traced back to chicken." The average American eats about 83 pounds of this antibiotic-laced chicken, they report; the rest of the article is similarly terrifying.
A sampling of reactions.
Ever since I read that Vogue article about antibiotics being injected into chicken eggs, I've replaced my egg white omelettes with oatmeal.

"Americans eat an average of 87lbs of chicken annually. Most of which has been treated with antibiotics. Scary report in US Vogue. "— Caroline Hirons (@CarolineHirons) April 22, 2014
