Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

For anyone that has a base-level knowledge of football, his name is Joe Namath, former Jets quarterback and hall-of-famer. For anyone with an average-level knowledge of football, he's "Broadway Joe." But for everyone else, he's fur-coat-at-the-Super-Bowl-guy. Skechers has signed fur-coat-at-the-Super-Bowl-guy for a year-long contract peddling Relaxed Fit men's footwear line, the company's answer for the dad demographic.

Of the partnership, Sketchers told WWD, "Joe Namath is one of the first pro-football television stars in the world, and with fans that go back to his days in Alabama, his personality and familiar face is perfect for our team." In short, Dads everywhere won't be able to resist [maniacal clapping].

But truly, if this man tried to sell us Skechers Shape-Up sneakers, we'd probably bite. Look at him:
