Welcome to Beauty Diary: Seven days of getting glam with an industry insider. From publicists to professional makeup artists, this is a week in the life of someone who lives and breathes beauty.
- The first thing I look at every day when I walk into my office is the mood board I made that represents how I want Glamour.com's new beauty site, Lipstick, to feel. My motto: A bold lip, gorgeous hair, flawless skin,
- Half way through the day, Lipstick's assistant editor Julianne Carell tells me one of our favorite PR people sent us floral crowns—that she made. Here we are wearing our Crowns by Christy creations
- As an afternoon snack, I give in and eat one of the cookies my mom had made with the help of The Crafted Cookie to celebrate the site launch. Healthy? No. Delicious and adorable? Absolutely.
- A Friday night double date with my husband and our friends Betty (pictured with me here) and Mike calls for a lipstick change—this time Maybelline Color Elixir
- My in-laws are in town from St. Louis, Missouri so we spent Saturday touring. Here are my everyday makeup essentials. After cleansing my face, I always apply Cle de Peau Beaute
- Our first stop was the Tenement Museum. The tours are fantastic, and the gift shop is my go-to spot for holiday presents. This time I spotted this adorable makeup pouch!
- Next we headed further downtown to Fraunces Tavern. My mother-in-law ordered this Coney Island Pilsner, which reminded me of this po
- Sundays are my "productive grooming days." I declared this week's Exfoliation Sunday. Step 1: Apply Glamglow's Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment for 10 minutes. I'm obse
- While the mask was drying, I also used Fresh
- Before heading out for brunch, I put on a really pretty coral lip color, Tangelo, from Young Blood.
- I wake up with sore throat. My go-to relief for any kind of icky feeling is a face mask: The cooling factor is really soothing, and if you need to look like a functioning human being, there's nothing better. Today I chose Dr. Jart+
- Another cure-all for not-feeling-so-great kinda day? A blowout and a manicure. My absolute favorite place in the city for both is The Red Door in Union Square. It's brand new, and the blowouts are beyond. For my Monday mani, I couldn't decide betwe
- Hot sauce, hotter nails. I went with Blanc and got loads of compliments at dinner.
- I was trying to leave my apartment but Lily had other ideas. She wanted to play—with her Koko Chewnel toy, of course!
- After distracting Lily long enough to close the door, I headed to Tenoverten for hot stone pedicure, courtesy of DNA Publicity. If you've never had a hot stone anything, I highly recommend it—so luxurious!
- I'm meeting with the fabulous founders of The Stylisted, a website—and soon-to-be app—that lets you book hair and makeup professionals to your home. One of their stylists created this incredible braided upd
- You really have to see it from the top too. It was a milkmaid-style braid, but done with fishtail pigtails instead of traditional plaits.
- My husband, father-in-law, and I hit up a baseball game. They're diehard St. Louis Cardinals fans, so I wore the reddest lip color I could find: MAC
- In addition to Riri Woo, my other go-to reds are Frankie Rose Raven and Armani
- Thursday beings with a preview of a new hair care line, R+Co. I ran into hair guru Garren and I have to admit, I had a little beauty editor star-struckness!
- Can't wait to dry R+Co.'s shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair!
- To cap off a long week I end the day with my three favorite beverages: Mud coffee, Ramsay cabernet sauvignon, and a Mean Green smoothie from Liquiteria. It's possible I had a little bit of all of them.
