Forget resumes: if you want a job at Zappos, you're going to have to learn how to navigate their new social network created entirely for hiring new Zappos employees. The new network, Inside Zappos, aims to do away with the old "we spam them, they spam us back" hiring process that Michael Bailen, Zappos' head of talent acquisition, described recently.
Instead, Zappos employee hopefuls will have to sign up for Inside Zappos and brush up on their social networking skills, as the new platform features a one-on-one pairing with a Zappos Ambassador, Q&A sessions with current employees, and exclusive access to online events. The new move aligns perfectly with CEO Tony Hsieh's innovative take on creating a company culture that people want to work in.
Of course, the site also offers tips on how to become the best Insider in the network. Advice includes creating a video cover letter, getting active on Twitter, and joining the Google Hangouts as they come up. It's basically a social network Hunger Games for jobs. Can you hang? Do you want to hang?
