Wedding-everything mecca David's Bridal quizzed 500 recently married or engaged women for a survey that confirms what we've all been thinking for awhile: traditional wedding rituals just aren't popular anymore. Out of the women surveyed, 93% are ditching old pre-marital traditions in favor of a more modern outlook on their wedding day.
This more modern take on marriage includes a more relaxed view on things once considered taboo: 82% were fine with living together before marriage, 56% were okay with buying a home together beforehand, and 45% were fine with sharing a checking account prior to the wedding.
72% of respondents were okay with sex before marriage and 38% supported babies before marriage. But, lest our mothers get too upset, 71% of brides are still going to take their partner's last name after the wedding, and 17% will be going the hyphenation route.
Mothers, turn away again. 44% of survey respondents said they'd willingly go for one last fling with a celebrity crush before the wedding, while 17% would rather have one last round with their ex. And in a moment of super-honesty, 5% admitted to wanting one last fling with the best man.
Finally, if you're headed for a wedding this summer sans date, all is not lost—52% said they've had their guests hook up at the event.
