It's time to get to know some of the emerging designers nominated for Racked Young Guns, our annual search for the country's most promising up-and-coming fashion talent.
Designer Anna Lynett Moss is supremely thoughtful about Chiyome, her line of minimal, structured leather bags. All of the goods are hand-made in New York City, and Moss tries hard to keep her production ethical, even sourcing her materials from minority-owned businesses whenever she can.
A RISD grad, she's equally careful about her aesthetic—all clean lines and restrained colors. And she's sensitive to how her bags fit into their owner's lives, working in convertible straps and keeping pricing fairly reasonable. (Most of bags fall in the $300 range.) Above, Moss—who's gotten press for other ethical initiatives including a class she teaches at Rikers and a plan to employ survivors of sex trafficking—shows us around her Brooklyn studio.
