Tavi Gevinson, of style blogger and Rookie fame, owns a pair of Audry Hepburn gloves. And "rare" barrettes from a tour of Courtney Love's band Hole. And a piece of the Berlin wall. All of these things we learn from T Magazine's insightful portrait of the adolescent-adult, for whom stage acting is the next incredibly-challenging challenge (she will perform in Kenneth Lonergan's play "This Is Our Youth" in Chicago).

T's visit to Tavi's home follows a major bedroom purge that has rid the writer and editor of many pieces of ephemera. Only a few serious mementos, including those gloves and the other objects listed above, remain. "These gloves belonged to Audrey Hepburn, who then gave them to Winona Ryder when she was 18, who I know and who gave them to me this weekend," she said. No big.

The article explains how Tavi has carefully cultivated her image and her career. Her strategy involves a series of lists, plenty of self criticism, and an awareness of her privilege. In an accompanying video, she praises her early experiences with fashion, but also explains how she's moved on. "I'm not obsessed with it the way I used to be," she explains. "Paying a lot of attention to fashion at a young age I think gave me a sense for attention to detail. I think that makes me a lot better in all the work I do now."
