BluePrint, arguably the reason why everyone and their mother is toting around a green juice these days, has lost its founders. The pressed juice company, which went big in 2012 when it was acquired by food conglomerate Hain Celestial for a rumored $26 million, was started by friends Zoe Sakoutis and Erica Huss more than 10 years ago. When Racked spoke with the duo shortly before news of the Hain Celestial deal went public, they were excited about the possibilities of expanding their operations to the West Coast and even talked about opening a brick-and-mortar juice shop in Venice Beach, the brand's first.
Last month, however, Sakoutis and Huss left the company they founded. In an email to BevNET, they said, "As you may know, Erica and I have left Hain BluePrint as of May 2nd, 2014. We built a great brand and Hain's acquisition of the BluePrint brand provided additional opportunities to grow the business. Erica and I are looking forward to the next chapter in our professional lives which we will share with you as it unfolds." Hain Celestial issued its own statement which read, in part, "Ms. Sakoutis and Ms. Huss decided it was time for them to explore new opportunities in their professional lives, and we wish them the best in their future endeavors."
