In the latest attempt to inject some style and elegance into the emerging "smart wearables" arena, designer Tory Burch has teamed up with fitness tracking gadget Fitbit. Her collection, released today, includes a pendant and three different wristband options to wear over the the Fitbit Flex tracker, which wirelessly monitors fitness activity and sleep trends.
"Wearable technology is an exciting new category," Burch said in the collection's release statement. "We're thrilled to be partnering with Fitbit to offer a unique collection of accessories that transform the fitness tracker into a stylish piece of jewelry that is versatile enough to go from day to evening."

"From day one, we've known that form factor is crucial to creating a health and fitness tracking device that will fit into people's lifestyles and become truly 'wearable,'" James Park, CEO and co-founder, of Fitbit added. "We designed Flex with this in mind, but our partnership with Tory Burch has taken wearable device fashion to another level, transforming our Flex tracker into an elegant accessory. Further expanding the ways our users can wear our products, this will ultimately help to inspire users to track their activity 24/7 and make healthier choices."
The latest version of the Fitbit, "Flex," counts steps taken, distance traveled, calories burned, active minutes and sleep patterns. The company boasts that its users take "43 percent more steps" and "lead healthier, more active lives." The device has been profiled everywhere from tech sites to the New Yorker, where writer David Sedaris details his growing obsession with tracking every step.
Burch's new Fitbit collection definitely makes sense for those who want to wear the fitness accessory but don't really like the gadget's standard design (or lack thereof). The new Burch collection includes a gold-colored brass pendant for $175, a gold-colored brass wristlet for $195, and silicon bracelets featuring the classic Tory Burch pattern found on her bags and dresses in blue or pink for $38. The collection is available on the Tory Burch and Fitbit sites.
