Diane Kruger is very good at looking good. That's why mytheresa.com tapped the model-turned-actress for an ongoing series in which they speak to very stylish women about how they achieve fashion greatness every day. In a video interview and accompanying photo shoot, Kruger broke her style down into bits of advice that, upon usage, may unleash style magic. Nothing's guaranteed, but we'll take what we can get.
1. Dressing for men is boring.
"I think most women dress for other women, let's be honest. It depends. It's easy to please a man. The shorter the skirt and the sexier the dress, they will most likely approve of your outfit."
2. Don't be a clothes-hoarder.
"I'm not a big hoarder when it comes to clothes. [...] I usually clean out my closet once every two to three months and I give it to charity or I give it to my girlfriends and my goddaughters, they [get] very excited."
3. Having a stylist is not all it's cracked up to be.
"I know it's crazy to think it would be unusual for someone to dress themselves. But, so often in Hollywood, women have stylists and they all look the same. I did that too when I first started out. But then I'd see pictures and didn't recognise myself. As my confidence grew as an actor and as a woman I started picking my own clothes. I don't want to look like everybody else."
4. Never underestimate the freedom to choose what you wear.
"The beauty of fashion and clothing is that you get to choose what you wear. You're never going to see me in a low-cut mini dress with flatform plastic heels."
5. The internet is the best resource for building individual style.
"I think L.A. shopping is great for every day stuff like jeans or T-shirts but the pieces that are a little bit different, that are a little bit outside of the box, I can't find here. I don't find it. So I usually go online, which is how I came to know mytheresa.com"
