Let's be honest here, Lauren Conrad's style is not exactly setting trends anytime soon. But Allure called out the star's simple dressing in a brutally honest way in the August issue. The beauty mag went so far as to describe Conrad as "basic," aka everyone's favorite fashion insult (or, if you prefer the willfully positive take, it's a stand-in for "the everygirl"). The label was an especially embarrassing gaffe considering Conrad just starred on Allure's cover several months ago. The former reality TV star was so offended that she took to Twitter to respond:
I definitely just got called a basic b*tch! Haha! Sausage curls!? Really @Allure_magazine? pic.twitter.com/m7CsNqvU0Z

The description underneath Conrad's picture in the Allure spread didn't help matters either: "Basic: Made famous by Kreayshawn, and viral by YouTube, the Basic woman is remarkably unremarkable. What's noteworthy about her style is its very plainness. Except to her. She swears those red-soled shoes are cutting-edge." Well, at least we know how they really feel now.
