Katie Couric kicked off a seminal, post-Hobby Lobby dissent interview with Supreme Court justice and eternal badass Ruth Bader Ginsburg with a stroll through Ruth's "jabot" closet. Jabots, for the uninitiated, are lace bib-like collars that are descendants of these goofy-ass frill collars judges in Britain wore at some point (we're not a history blog). Ruth and Sonia Sotomayar are fans.
She explained that she has a specific collar for dissent, and another for majority. The one that wouldn't look out of place on the Game of Thrones set (specifically on a Lannister) is the one she wears for dissenting opinions because, "It looks fitting for dissents." The yellow crocheted collar is for majority opinions because, as Katie puts it, it's "for when you really want to make a statement." The 20 minute interview goes on to explore what went wrong in the Hobby Lobby ruling, her lingering issues with Roe v. Wade and her internet reputation as the Notorious R.B.G.
