Marketing and analytics firm Curalate thinks it has the answer to the puzzle of how to make Instagram easily shoppable. And both Nordstrom (532,000 Instagram followers) and Target (over 300,000 Instagram followers on both Target and Target Style) are now on board with Curalate's solution, a product called Like2Buy.
It's kind of a mirror of Instagram, with a link in Nordstrom and Target's Instagram profiles to their Like2Buy pages, which feature the exact same grid of photos as in the Instagram page. Click on any photo, and it takes you directly to the item on the retailer's website so you can add it to your shopping cart.
Nordstrom's Director of Social Media Bryan Galipeau told Businessweek that Like2Buy should help with the eternal flow of Instagram comments asking, "Where can I buy this?" and "How much does it cost?" It's a much more seamless shopping experience than Nordstrom's previous method of listing product item numbers on Instagram so customers could track down items on Nordstrom's website. "Everybody is trying to hack Instagram," co-founder of Curalate Apu Gupta told Businessweek. "We think it's going to be a very big deal."
