In honor of the president's birthday today, Washington Post staffers took it upon themselves to rank every gift bestowed upon the big man by foreign nations and their leaders between 2009 and 2012. Factors taken into consideration included value and quality.
So what to get the man who has everything? According to lists compiled by the State Department's not-at-all-fictitious Protocol Gift Unit, nations have presented everything from high-end bottles of booze (Mexico) and a ping-pong table (the UK) to framed portraits of royal family members (Denmark) and a wooden CD holder (way to go, Russia). Among the sea of generic vases, rugs, and tea sets, Mexico's silver aztec calendar and New Zealand's Maori club took top honors. In dead last?
