Athleta Peddling Birkenstocks, Cashmere Sweats For Holiday

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Here's your first look at what Gap-owned activewear brand Athleta will have in store for the holiday season. Cozy highlights include cashmere sweatpants and sweaters (all priced under $100), fleece-lined tights with special panels designed to decrease the visual bulk added by the fuzzy lining, and ski jackets with Recco technology, which acts like rescue GPS in case you're caught in an avalanche while on the slopes (safety first, fashion close second).

Other pieces that caught our eye at the brand's preview include longline sports bras, swim tights (which Without Walls also showed recently), neoprene-accented sweatshirts, and body-mapping tights, which follow your muscles' natural contours (result: crazy flattering and compression to keep blood flowing the right way, even in the cold). Take a look for yourself in the gallery here, and shop the goods come November.
