Even Adults Will Find Lupita Nyong'o's Sesame Street Message Empowering

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Lupita Nyong'o is back on Sesame Street (this time the US version, rather than the Mexican). She's talking about skin, which if you're a cynical hag, might lead you to believe she's sending subliminal messages to the youth about Lancome, the brand she currently reps. But if you're a real, live human, you'd accept her empowering message to "love the skin you're in" and feel really good about it.
