Nordstrom's personal shoppers are using 21st century tech to better connect with their best customers. The retailer just announced a partnership with Twilio, a business that provides phone and messaging services to websites. This isn't your standard SMS deals text—Twilio has given Nordstrom's personal shoppers the capability to text photos of new merchandise to their clients without running up charges for the retailer or giving out personal employee phone numbers.
For personal shoppers, this development replaces the old (old) method of flipping through a Rolodex to contact clients when new collections hit stores. But Twilio is aiming to broaden its reach in the future. The tech company suggested that retailers could use the service for everything from exchanging receipts to texting photos of authorized deliverymen to customers who are expecting a shipment.
