Important: Are You 'Team Heels' or 'Team Flats?'

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

We've all done the heels versus no heels dance and we all have our reasons for favoring one or the other, but just in case there's any confusion, we've come up with a guide to help you make the right decision before leaving the house. Below, choose which statement completion you're more drawn to (A or B), tally up your answers, and walk away confident that you are Team Heels or Team Heels Are Monsters.

More A's than B's? Your life mantra is "Higher the heels, higher to God." Your choice of weapon in the apocalypse is a pair of stilettos and rogue determination. Your calves are shapely, so congrats on that.

More B's than A's? Having the ability to sprint places is important to you. So is staying grounded. You would totally thank your mom in your Academy Awards speech. "Loafers" isn't even a ridiculous word to you. Neither is "kicks."

Equal number of A's and B's? You're confused. Some days you can withstand the pain, traipsing around like a stiletto is NBD. Other days, you just can't with it. You just. Can't.
