Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Most visitors at the Instagram office might look forward to the moment they are offered branded swag. Anna Wintour is certainly not most people. Former Lucky editor-in-chief Eva Chen, who is now the head of fashion partnerships at Instagram, held a Q&A in Menlo Park with the Vogue editor-in-chief, who does not have her own account on the app. When Eva offered Wintour the tech world's uniform, she politely responded, "I've never worn a hoodie before," and folded it up. Before the fold, which was done "neatly" of course, Anna held the cotton garment up for the audience, as if it were some kind of rash-causing object.

Indeed, Anna typically wears high-end tweed jackets, elaborate coats, and smart blazers, but she has never been spotted covering up with a generously cut sweatshirt. Which will happen first, Anna on Instagram or in a hoodie? We don't recommend holding your breath for either.
