Comic-Con returned this weekend to New York City with the usual fare: elaborate costumes, over-the-top hair and makeup, and and so, so many wigs.

Aside from the expected showings of classic characters like Wonder Woman, the Sailor Moon squad, and Poison Ivy, there were plenty of contemporary counterparts: from Minions, to Brave’s Merida, plus Disney princesses and characters from Star Wars, Game of Thrones, and even Bob’s Burgers.

Not-so-shockingly, Harley Quinn appeared to be the most popular costume this year, thanks to Margot Robbie’s fresh revamp in the forthcoming Suicide Squad movie. Scroll through the gallery above to see the rest of the best looks from opening day, and to get some inspiration for Halloween.
