Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Selena Gomez is a beautiful, talented actress and musician who also happens to have something to say. Selena Gomez is also a terrifying monster who wields the power to do something utterly horrifying: Bring back the bubble skirt.

The bubble skirt was a style of miniskirt that gathered underneath the hem and puffed out like a deflated parachute. About a decade ago, everyone from tweens and their mothers wore them, the sole explanation presumably being that during the years between 2004 and 2006, mirrors ceased to exist.

But lest you blame only Selena for the bubble skirt's return, do remember that Louis Vuitton is the actual culprit — Who What Wear points out that the skirt is actually a product of the label's spring 2016 collection. And though Selena Gomez looks perfectly fine in her Louis Vuitton bubble skirt, let us all agree that this should not mean we should all follow suit.
