Kendall Jenner Teases Instagram's Nipple Censorship

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Free the Nipple is a movement adopted by many women after Rihanna got suspended from Instagram. The photo sharing service immediately removes any photos uploaded featuring a nipple, more specifically a woman's nipple. Matt McGorry, the Orange is The New Black and How to Get Away With Murder star, tested the limits of the photo service by poorly photoshopping Chrissy Teigen and Miley Cyrus' nipples on his bare chest to see if Instagram would remove the photo. Lo and behold, the post still remains.

Kendall Jenner, who recently turned 20-years-old, just hit 40 million followers on Instagram, just 11 million behind her older sister Kim Kardashian. To give her followers a birthday treat, she posted a black and white picture of herself in a tank, pulling one side of her top down to reveal her nipple. Only thing is, the nipple is obscured by a red cross. Better luck next time!
