Not all moms who get haircuts get mom cuts, and not all mom haircuts are worn by moms. But in the case of Kate Middleton — mom of two and recent receiver of what is likely her shortest haircut as Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge — the nickname fits the deed.
Stylist Richard Ward spoke with People on the recent cut and confirms that yes, Kate Middleton indeed got a mom cut. "It's much easier to look after and takes half the time to blow dry," he said. "It still has the feeling of long hair. It has more bouncy movement because of the long layers and shorter length."
He continues:
"It's a practical style and a great option for a mom who has had long hair, who has a busy life and is short on time," the royal mom's longtime hair dresser Richard Ward, who is responsible for Kate's chic new cut, tells People. "It's slightly more sophisticated but with all the benefits of long hair."
Lean into it, Kate. Lean right on in.
