Winter and white go hand in hand: snowflakes, ski slopes, a certain man's fluffy beard. But when it comes to dressing for snowy weather, it inevitably goes a little something like this: a black coat layered over a charcoal sweater worn with boots in a deep shade of obsidian. Winter whites are the cure for a closet riddled with gloomy navys, depressing blacks, and boring grays. (Ralph Lauren may have been onto something when he sent nearly eight all-white looks down his fall 2015 runway, complete with chunky knits, ivory furs, and alabaster trousers.)
Whether you’re headed to the office or to a brunch date with friends, we've outlined how to pull off white all season long, complete with styling tips and shopping ideas.
Everyday
There's nothing wrong with sticking to what you know, and if that means a uniform of black, go for it. Freshen it up with a furry white coat in lieu of your usual black one. Finish the look off with subtle gold accents, like a simple necklace.

Nine to Five
The pantsuit is an obvious choice when it comes to office attire and can be found just about anywhere and at any price point. Opt for a monochromatic white version much like the one seen in Adam Lippes' pre-fall 2015 collection for an alluring take on a classic. To avoid looking flat, experiment with lengths and structural details, like a wrap front or a curved zipper. Finish the look with white pumps (obviously) and a structured bag.

Brunch With Friends
Jewel tones were all the rage this season, seen everywhere from Balmain to Rodarte. Saturated pops of color make whites look even brighter, evidenced here by an emerald green Chanel bag and a fluffy sweater coat. This color duo is great for any daytime activity, like grabbing a quick bite to eat with friends.

Holiday Shopping
Cold weather is no joke, and neither is the holiday gift list you've been avoiding all December. Brave the cold for your loved ones in a menswear-inspired white coat and beanie combo. Get extra coverage from a turtleneck in lieu of a scarf, and give the silhouette a waist with the help of a black leather belt. Complete the outfit with a pair of white booties.
