Attention, bargain hunters and people who hate paying full price (so, everyone): Pinterest is adding a game-changing feature to the buyable pins it launched earlier this year. The platform has made it possible to track the price of any buyable pins users have put on their boards, meaning Pinterest will alert you with an e-mail or notification whenever the price drops, according to TechCrunch.
Pinterest aims to make itself an integral part of users' shopping experiences by implementing this feature, Pinterest product marketing manager Sarah Shere tells TechCrunch. "I don't think it's a unique psychology to Pinterest, but we tried to build a shopping experience that worked for that customer experience — discovering a product, waiting for the right moment, and then completing the purchase in a seamless way," she said.
Pinterest already has the existing infrastructure — with pins that can be bought directly from the platform and a newly launched shop — to support this kind of development. Unlike, say the buzzy and beloved app Hukkster, which offered this feature, but this feature alone.
