Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

With mere weeks until 2016, now's the time to catch up on all the shows and movies everyone else was talking about while you were re-watching the entirety of Friends for the seventeenth time. Along with November's newbies, which included Aziz Ansari's charming series Master of None, a corseted Kiera Knightley in Anna Karenina, and the fashion-focused documentary Dior and I, here are all the new television series and movies coming to Netflix in December, plus which ones to prioritize first.

Watch It First

A Very Murray Christmas (2015)

Part concert, part film, part variety show, A Very Murray Christmas brings together Bill Murray and a slew of celebrity friends — Amy Poehler, George Clooney, Miley Cyrus, Michael Cera, Rashida Jones included — for a Christmas story set at New York City's Carlysle Hotel. It's also directed by Sofia Coppola. Why does such a film exist? Because.

The Da Vinci Code (2006)

You saw it in theaters with your parents when it came out in 2006, and you'll probably watch it again on the plane home for the holidays. Is it historically accurate? Not even a little bit, but just go with it.

Jenny's Wedding (2015)

There's something about watching a truly terrible movie — it currently holds a 15% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes — that just feels like the holidays. This one's evidently a sappy family drama centered around coming to terms with the fact that Katherine Heigl and Alexis Bledel want to get married to each other (a fact which audiences must overcome, as well).

Nurse Jackie (2009 – 2015)

All seven seasons of this Showtime dramedy are coming to Netflix this month. If you haven't already binge-watched it, Edie Falco plays a painkiller-addicted nurse juggling the stress of a New York City hospital and her frenzied personal life.
