It's pretty well understood that New York Fashion Week is a crazy, crowded affair, but Style.com put together a long list of calculated NYFW statistics that further prove the point. Tomorrow, there are 48 NYFW runway shows scheduled, making it the most-booked show day of the week. The average show lasts just eight minutes but the prep for that verges on the insane: six people work on each model backstage to prepare beauty looks and there's about 25 models in each runway show.
There are usually 60 photographers in the pit at Milk Studios at any given show. Speaking of shows, there's 113 total presentations on the official NYFW calendar and 209 runway shows. And about 230,000 people attend all those shows every year. No wonder NYFW brings in an estimated $900 million for the city—more than the U.S. Open, the Super Bowl, and the New York City Marathon.
